The Gang
“American Cafe” features interviews with members of the “Slimey Crud Motorcycle Gang”, the creators of the “Crud Run”.
The Bikes
In addition the film follows the story of two motorcyclists-turned-mechanics who attempt to rebuild two broken-down Honda motorcycles as Cafe Racers.
- 1974 Honda CL350: un-ridden for at least a decade, some parts of which arrived in a stock-pot.
- 1982 Honda CB650SC: Half-way between a “cruiser” and a “standard”, who’s parts are incompatible with almost every other Honda CB.
The Run
These stories are blended together with coverage of the event itself and footage of the beautiful roads that draw motorcyclists from thousands of miles to attend the event. Together these elements paint a vivid picture of the Cafe Racer in contemporary America.
